One of the aspects of Catskiing that sometimes gets less attention is the importance of great guides… The Selkrik Guides led by Jason were amazing to work with from a media perspective- and judging from the sore cheeks of the smiling guests we went with.. they felt the same way.

Early season my ass..it looks like mid season pow!

Catskiing Canada got up at Selkirk Wilderness Skiing in Meadow Creek BC and on this early January day was just one of may shots that captured the reason people have been coming here for the past 35 years.

Let me know if you see the skier… apparently this place gets even better… we found it hard to imagine it could get any better..

It honestly was the trip that reset my reality to what Catskiing can be.

Some athletes cross train all summer to prepare for a winter in the backcountry. Daryl likes paddling out and dropping waves.. Clearly the training more than pays off.. it looks like high returns even in a down market. The K3 Stock exchange is trending a bull market.

Dreams are made of these..

This season I am focusing on the staff of Catskiing Operations. The more you get to know the amazing people that work at Canadian operations from the Cat driver to the lodge manager not to mention the Guides.

Their stories are like tall cold glass of beer after a long day of work.. Welcomed, refreshing and as soon as its finished.. your ready for another.  One of the guides at Powder Mountain getting a frothy cup of frosty love.

I could totally be a happy powder drunk.

That’s just me.

Revelstoke BC is fast becoming a destination with a steep and deep reputation. I think Karl is just adding to his rap sheet of powder infractions.

Every once in a while you wake up and find yourself starting your day somewhere that only matches a postcard or a dream you had at some point in time.

What's your view?

Revelstoke is fast becoming a epicenter of powder hungry skiers and riders alike. K3 Catski is located just out of Revelstoke  half way to a sleepy summer town called Sicomous. This budding Catskiing Operation is now expanding its terrain to some North facing aspects. Interview with the one of the owners Chris Moore- posting soon on their new terrain access and updates on their new 2012 Season.

A sleepy town called Meadow Creek is home to a Catskiing operation which inspires your powder dreams into a true backcountry experience.

This is….. White Grizzly Adventures.

Most skiers dream of a untouched slope to call their own, to carve their turns and have the feeling that only comes to those who make first tracks.  North of Nelson BC Canada quietly tucked away from the spot light of the growing Catskiing Industry is a very little known spot to the masses called White Grizzly.

In experienced ski circles someone will have heard of someone who has skied there, and their tall tales of steep, long powder runs – as we would soon discover were more than slightly understated. When we got the call to film at White Grizzly it felt like we were going to be on an expedition on Discovery Channel to find the rare White Grizzly itself.

The owners Brad and Carole Karafil are not your typical Catskiing Operators. For starters this happy go lucky couple are all business when it comes to safety / details and doubly serious about getting as much vertical each day that they can. ( For their guests.. and they seem to get alot of turns in too)

Brad leading guest thru the spaces between the steep trees not far from a den where a real grizzly was hibernating.

Once in a while you feel like taking a few minutes just look around you and marvel at the view- and digest that you are close to nothing and far from everything.

More coverage of this little gem of a Catskiing Operation coming out later this fall…
